Type 2 diabetes is a disease in which your body cannot make enough insulin, or your body does not properly use the insulin it makes.  Insulin is a hormone that helps your body to control the level of sugar in your blood.  As a result, glucose (sugar) builds up in your blood instead of being used for energy.  If left unmanaged, the excess sugar in your blood can eventually cause problems and lead to serious health complications.

It can be quite stressful when you find out that you have Type 2 Diabetes.  Not only is it important to maintain a healthy weight but it is absolutely necessary for survival.  Many people struggle with their relationship with food and even though they have been told by their doctor to cut out certain foods and especially toxic sugar from their lives, they can still find themselves feeling drawn to these foods which are inevitably killing them.
